2. How do I borrow kits?

Anchorage Public Library patrons or
Patrons of libraries in the Alaska Library Catalog
Kits are housed at the Z. J. Loussac Library branch of the Anchorage Public Library (APL), but you can request kits to be sent to any of the other branches of APL or other libraries participating in the Alaska Library Catalog by placing a hold online or speaking to a librarian.

Patrons of libraries NOT in the Alaska Library Catalog
Go to your local library and request to borrow kits. Your library will contact Anchorage Public Library’s Interlibrary Loan Department to borrow materials on your behalf.

Patrons in a community WITHOUT a public library
To see a list of community libraries within Alaska, click here. If your community does not have a library, you may be eligible to receive materials using Alaska Mail Services. This service may also be available to persons living in remote areas but with mailing addresses in towns whose libraries receive state funds. For organizations and those ineligible for Alaska Mail Services, please contact us to borrow kits directly.

7. How do I keep track of all the books in the kits?

There are labels on every item in the kit, as well as on the bags and tubs themselves. Each tub contains a content sheet on the inside of the tub lid. It notes the total number of books included in that particular tub, but NOT the individual titles. The bags have contents sheets, but the individual titles are not listed.

8. If I borrow more than one tub at a time, how do I know which book goes with which tub?

Each tub has a unique number listed on the outside and inside of the tub, and on each item in the tub. Just match the number on the books with the number on the tub. Here is an example of a label on the spine of a book, with the number:
